MicroPhage is focused on delivering its rapid diagnostic platform to the clinical market in hospitals and physician office laboratories for use in a number of key application areas. Please revisit our website in the next few weeks to see more about MicroPhage (May 2007) markets.

Rapid Results. Point of Care Applications. Easy to Use Formats. These are the goals of today's clinical diagnostics. Earlier detection and identification is an increasing need to treat patients specifically and effectively. Detecting bacteria and judging its antibiotic susceptibility or resistance prior to dispensing medication is the (holy grail) of infectious disease medicine - results MicroPhage believes it can deliver with its novel platform.

In a survey of Massachusetts physicians, "Diagnostic Uncertainty" ranked as one of the most important influencers in prescribing broad spectrum antibiotics and antibiotics in general, according to Tufts University's Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA). Perceived for years as an additional cost by health insurance providers, point of care diagnostics are now accepted into all areas of medicine, from cardiac markers to glucose meters to oxygen monitors. Rapid, easy to use diagnostics are the driving force in the growth of the medical device market.

Today only a handful of tests are available at the point of care and/or for rapid detection of bacteria direct from a clinical sample. Often faulted for low sensitivity and specificity to their targets, many of these tests do not operate well because of the sample that is being tested - regardless if it is a coughed up specimen, a few drops of blood, or urine. MicroPhage is ready to take on this pent up demand with an easy to use point of care test capable of rapid direct detection, providing confidence in treatment and peace of mind in knowing.
